just a thought but with sniper reviews on the horizon, who else thinks this could be a good idea?
maybe this could be a way to increase range for them?
or possibly a faster aim, so that when up close the sniper can be more efficient?
faster rate of fire?
something along these lines... thoughts please from other snipers?
(I really don't need comments along the lines of snipers are cowards, red line snipers need fixing, or any other bs along those lines. I'm being constructive please do the same.)

but true enough the rendering does need to be addressed so too the hit detection.
but that's another matter really, with the review coming up, I'd like to see some solid suggestions that we could put forward for it. |

that wouldn't really require an extra skill, which I'd like the sniper tree to get, but oh my god I'd love to see it! |

possibly, im not sure if that's a hotfix or not when it comes to the skill tree. or even skill tree alterations... I'd also like to see the ammo skill get some positive treatment.

commanderbolt. yes not a bad idea at all, it could be that as you skill into the sharpshooter the immediate sway on ads gets a percentage reduction. if you like this idea add +1 sway also different types of ammo are mentioned in the lore of the rifle, I'd love to see it, but it does seem doubtful.
mica de luca . I wholeheartedly agree about the issues. .I want the extra headshot damage, and as much as I would like to see it across the board as a base sniper rifle bonus.. I think that having it as a skill to spec into would be a great way to give a bonus to upper tier snipers, giving them a reason to go sp extensive into sniping as well as making a specialised sniper a much better team asset than a basic berry doing nothing, so a definite +1 (in fact I once even asked for it)
other snipers if you like this please add +1 headshot (hs) skill to your post (n.b this is for it as a skill)
. the problem with a basic zoom increase is with the tactical rifles + the fact that a range nerf is on the cards, chances are that you will find that at lvl 5 with the new sniping ranges you wouldn't be able to hit anything as they will be too close to ads.

same problem, I think adjustable scope is better to ask for but an increase zoom will only be useful for the charge and will ruin the tactical/thales for anybody that specs into it

at the moment yes we have basically got enough range, but I can't stress this enough the very first thing that will be changed on sniper rifles is almost certainly going to be a range reduction. (based on comments from ccp rattati recently on another sniper thread recently.) yes I completely agree that we need to be more valid on the battlefield. I disagree with this whole close range sniper theme that people ask for, it leads to quick scopers and isn't really sniping.
I know that in theory they would have further range than the rr but in practice you will find yourself getting killed by hip fire from scouts, lav heavies, ads, tanks etc. the scopes don't allow for that amount of situational awareness, or even the ability to keep moving around and killing on the move meaning wasting too much time to achieve anything aswell as dying a lot.
Cpl foster +1 but I doubt that we could add that as a skill, (also I think the other players would also agree that they want valid salvage so it's not just snipers)

I suppose your another clown that thinks they only type of playstyle that's valid is everybody running around in assault suits with assault rifles, and you know what.. I'd actually put money on it that you would still send out hatemail, and say that other people shouldn't be able to shoot at you unless you get the first shot, you probably even think that every type of player should be pin pointed on your radar, that their bullets shouldn't hurt, tanks shouldn't be allowed at all, shotguns are a crime, remotes are unfair, heavies are too op, cloaks shouldn't be allowed, lasers have too much range, hmgs are not welcome, rail rifles are evil, combat rifles are for scrubs, plasma cannons are for losers, ads pliots are scumbags, snipers shouldn't be a part of whatever game you chose to play and spray & pray is the only way.
in case that's not clear. WE are Tired too. we are tired of the likes of you with entirely too well thought out answers along the lines of "redline sniper" on every single sniper thread, even though they are the exact same comments every single time.
I'm tired of saying to you clowns that we do not want or care about that red line in any way shape or form, we didn't ask for it, we even asked for ways too snipe outside of it, even on those threads there are people like you that just don't think saying "redline snipers" where were you when I put on thread about changing the red line, or changing the sniper rifles to include a marksmen rifle? you know what? not a single one of you regular qq types were on there with as much as a +1 and that was when it could of been changed! some more food for thought, there used to be some very good positions outside the red lines that got removed by people like you, despite warnings that it would lead to worse red line tactics. so well done. you got us here now expect us to listen to your bs whilst we try to pick up the pieces left by your type of players.

seriously feel free to not bother posting on here. you clearly have nothing at all to say for the benefit of snipers in dust so don't waste the vast amount of time and effort it must take you to think past the word "erm"

Editting to add: Personally I feel it that the range should be kept, because a nerf would gimp the role to a certain extent due to lack of sniping spots on most maps that aren't what I refer to as tactical nightmares and the only reason it'd happen is due to the fact most people don't want to take 30 seconds to a minute to go kill a sniper, like it's some difficult feat to do.

sorry missed that. was too fixed on basic. in that case I'd love to see it but I'm not sure where the skilling into could work,
I Completely agree and do not want a range nerf at all! unfortunately due to certain types of players, it's almost certain to happen. I also agree that the reticule isn't great, i think they are already going to look at that anyway |

these people seem to think that a sniper should be either something irrelevant or that they aren't a valid part of battle strategy, when the truth is almost exactly opposite. it irritates the hell out of me that supposedly in the future sniper rifles will be worse than they are today. and that we are allowing them to keep saying that we should be out in the open with the rest of the infantry for "balance" aka fairness. in a wargame. |
